TWO OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET WITH GRANITIFIANDRE

Fiandre participated in two events held in Milan on March 16. The Alessi Hall in Palazzo Marino hosted a press conference presenting town@house street, a new urban hospitality project designed by architect Simone Micheli on the basis of an idea by Alessandro Rosso.

Before a large audience of architecture and design professionals and members of the press, Milan’s Councillor for Tourism Massimiliano Orsatti and professional tour operator Alessandro Rosso described the idea underlying this innovative new hospitality concept. The project will be developed in the world’s biggest cities, starting in Milan, converting unused shops into unusual hotel suites offering a different kind of hotel stay, in an ethereal setting that also makes a contribution to redevelopment of urban spaces.
Architect Simone Micheli’s imagination comes up with "highly evocative, functional, attractive places which could become true manifestos of a new concept of hospitality"".

Fiandre and its innovative materials make the perfect partner in a project like this. The first urban suite to be installed features a new colour of Active created specifically for the occasion: Extra White 120x60 cm. Alessandro Rosso presented Fiandre as a virtuous example of excellence and a partner in prestigious projects such as the Italian Pavilion at Expo Shanghai. Councillor Orsatti took advantage of the opportunity to provocatively suggest that the whole city of Milan might be covered with Active… doing away with the need for the despised Ecopass congestion charge!

Another interesting discussion was held in the Triennale in the afternoon, with the presentation of the volume "Territori dell’Abitare", published by Editrice Compositori with contributions from Fiandre, Iris Ceramica and Technokolla.

As well as authors Luisella Gelsomino and Ottorino Marinoni, who teach in the Faculty of Architecture of Bologna University, Ottagono editor Aldo Colonetti moderated a round table focusing on current housing concepts in Europe. Important contributions to the discussion were made by architect Cino Zucchi and by Fulvio Irace, who teaches History of Architecture at Milan Polytechnic.
On this occasion too, Active was presented as an example of innovation applied to architecture in a context such as residential construction which increasingly requires a focus on environmental sustainability and the quality of the environment we live in.
