This year's LEAF Awards were presented in Berlin on September 4, bringing together big names on the world architecture scene in the splendid setting of the Ritz – Carlton to celebrate excellence in innovation and structures in architecture for the public and private sectors.

Fiandre, highly sensitive to dialogue with the world of architecture and interior design, was represented at the event by Chairman and Managing Director Graziano Verdi and Key-Account Director Gianfranco Sassi, who presented Atelier Brueckner GmbH with an award for its BMW Museum in Germany.
The event offered an opportunity for an important exchange of ideas and reflections on the role of architecture and the direction it is taking in the contemporary world, with an emphasis on ecology and on the theme of respect for and protection of our environment.

Today's architects are increasingly aware of the importance of concepts such as green buildings, low environmental impact and recycling, and consequently more demanding when it comes to these issues. Fiandre underlined its position as a preferential supplier for architects with concerns in this area, responding concretely with numerous initiatives.
Fiandre began recycling raw materials in its productive processes initially with certification of conformity to LEED requirements and then as the inspiration for creation of a new collection of materials, Serie 100, the ultimate aim of which is making tiles out of 100% recycled materials.

At the event there was a lot of interest in the new Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™ method, which passes the strictest scientific tests demonstrating that this high-end range of ceramics has a concrete antibacterial effect and reduces pollutants, helping improve the quality of the air we breathe every day.
