A WINNING EXPO FOR ITALY

As people start to talk about Expo 2015 in Milan, Expo 2010 is just closing its doors in Shanghai, after staying open from May 1 to October 31.
Everyone agrees on the results of the Expo.
It was a gold medal Expo, especially for the Italian Pavilion, representing the country’s outstanding products and enterprises, which attracted 7.3 million visitors (an average of 40,500 people a day), as well as 100 ministers and prime ministers from all over the world.
The Italian Pavilion, completely covered with GranitiFiandre materials, hosted more than 150 business events involving 1500 Italian companies throughout the six-month period, saw big names in music, theatre and dance perform in over 60 cultural events and was visited by 2400 accredited reporters.
The news accompanying the close of the World Exposition once more underlines the huge success of this specimen of Italian architecture. Expo regulations require pavilions to be dismantled at the end of the fair, but the Italian Pavilion may become the only exception: 23 offers to purchase it have been received from prominent Chinese institutions and municipalities (including Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong) who offered to adopt the building because of its great architectural value.

This unprecedented success attributable to Italy’s excellence, tradition and innovation is well worth repeating at the next Expo – coming up in Milan in 5 years.
