FIANDRE AND THE FIAT GROUP WORK TOGETHER FOR SOLIDARITY
On Tuesday, September 27 a nursery school built with funds provided by Fiat S.p.A. in partnership with Italian Fiat, Alfa, Lancia, Abarth, Fiat Professional and Maserati dealers was inaugurated in the village of Bazzano (L'Aquila), damaged by the severe earthquake in Abruzzo in April 2009.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony and laying of the plaque was attended by about fifty children, their parents and the local authorities as well as Fiat president, John Elkann, managing director Sergio Marchionne and L'Aquila mayor Massimo Cialente.
The new nursery school consists of five connected buildings with a crèche and nursery school for about 100 children covering a total of about 1300 square metres.
The complex includes a multipurpose hall which can also be used as a meeting-place for the village of Bazzano.
The architectural concept is by Fiat Partecipazioni and the buildings were constructed to the latest earthquake safety standards on the basis of criteria of environmental sustainability, and do not have a conventional air conditioning system but adopt a ventilated façade system using natural methods to provide optimal control of indoor temperature year-round.
The building is covered with White Wave 150 x75 cm tiles from the Fiandre Extreme line, in the Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™ variant: latest generation technical porcelain stoneware tiles enriched with titanium dioxide to eliminate pollutants and bacteria, making a substantial contribution to purifying the air we breathe.
The Fiandre Group’s Key Account Director Gianfranco Sassi attended the inauguration ceremony, reporting that he was "proud to play an active role in such an important project".
