FROM ITALY TO JAPAN AND BACK AGAIN!

The end of September was a busy time for Fiandre. In addition to attending the most important trade fair for the industry in Italy, Cersaie, the company had an opportunity to meet with some of the biggest names in contemporary Japanese architecture.
Maki & Associates Architecture and Planning” visited Fiandre’s plants for Professor Maki Fumihiko’s “ Machida New City Hall” project, due to be completed in 2012. The project will make use of Fiandre materials from the new Extreme line designed in partnership with the studio, which had some very specific requirements.
The two products designed ad hoc are M-Beige and W-Grey, in an unusual size, 675x675cm, with a colour scheme based on the famous Japanese architect’s specific instructions. The project is one of the most important currently underway in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Only a few days later Fiandre attended two events at UAI 2011, the International Union of Architects’ meeting in Tokyo. Kazuyo Sejima, curator of the 12th international architecture exhibition in Venice, hosted a seminar about the Biennale and a round table with the participation of some of the best young architects in Japan and the world.
Fiandre, a company which has always been very much involved in architecture events, sponsored the evening event, at which the company’s representatives reported on the latest new technologies.
The Maximum collection, with its unique revolutionary new size, 3 metres x 150 cm, was the focus of the discussion and attracted a lot of interest and amazement among the architects attending the event. The large group of prestigious conference-goers also heard architect Kengo Kuma present some of his work. Fiandre closed the two-day architecture event with a round table at which Country Manager Giandomenico Mercurio presented the company's ten years of experience working in collaboration with architectural practices all over the world.
