The new conference centre is sized to match the ancient pine trees which remain the main presence on the hill. This is a single building, composed of 4 paired units, which form a single shape inspired by the golden section, and hence by a strict symmetry which varies with the viewer's point of view.

Great care has been taken in designing the proportions, relations between mass and height, between the mass of the building and that of the high trees, the surrounding olive grove and the seasonal crops: the new cultural centre must belong to the hill and its landscape, and not the other way around. The colour scheme also reflects the natural colours of the material oxidised by nature, which can age with the building almost without maintenance.

The form of the theatre, descending towards the semi-circular orchestra, conforms to the canons of classical Greek and Roman architecture. The forms, materials and geometries are designed to allow the music to be heard without the use of mechanical amplifiers. In the same way, the air conditioning system is bio-dynamic, and works by taking in air from underground ducts via flues in the roofing pyramids.

The banquet hall gives a fine view towards Monte Amiata, and is supported at the centre only, so that the perimeter walls can be fully glazed. Set back by two metres from the outer roof line, they are shielded by large arches in naturally oxidised cedar and can completely darken the room when closed. The multi-functional foyer is a golden section rectangle, covered over 2/3 of its surface by a flat roof with central perforations, and over the remaining 1/3 by one of the two square-based truncated pyramids.
