As is well known, the activities of a health care centre, supplemented by the C.U.P.A. and Centro Prelievi (blood samples centre), result in a user traffic which, depending on the user base, may be very high, especially during certain hours of the morning.
Starting from such considerations, it was decided to provide a reception and waiting area which is as large and comfortable as possible, and which leads into a structure whose functional legibility means that it is particularly user friendly.
These spaces, integrated horizontally and vertically, thus act as connection filters, within which the user can move freely, with access to all the information points required to make best use of the centre's facilities.
In this sense the central spaces become the junction between the centre's two wings, which house the services themselves.
The solution was conditioned by certain functional, environmental and territorial factors, including the almost triangular shape of the ground lot, the consistency and type of terrain, the polarity function of the area and the building itself, and the desire to provide the widest range of services in relation to the functions housed by the complex, and to create a flexible structure, or excellent architectonic quality, using advanced, innovative and energy saving technologies, which is also bio-compatible.
The decision was taken to expand the reception and waiting areas as much as possible so as to be able to interconnect all the services on the ground and first floors with ease. The result is a real connecting link, with the outer walls as transparent as possible, which has become the main nexus of user traffic, an area in which users not only can find everything required to make use of the structure's services, but also have vertical accesses to the upper floor combined with easily comprehensible routes and functions.
