The Romagna Centro sports centre is located on an area of 70,380 m2, with 3 regulatory pitches, two large seven-a-side and one five-a-side pitch. In the spring, it hosts an international competition with around 8,000 participants. The centre has decided to create new spaces to facilitate the organisation of these activities. The project includes a hotel and new associated activities, available to the centre itself and the city, with the aim of attracting a potential base of non-competitive fitness users. It also aims to increase the comfort of the current users by providing space for after-sports activities.
The building has several internal levels, divided into two main spaces (the hotel and the sports centre itself). The project's distribution system is organised to enable the activities to be run independently of each other while occupying a single complex. The building is designed around a large inner green space lined with trees. In this space are a swimming pool, solarium and a kiosk used for outdoors receptions. The interior and exterior spaces communicate via sliding glass walls which can be opened during the summer. The facade is intended to identify the centre as "the citadel of sport". A system of perforated aluminium skins gives a plastic, mutable perception of the structure. The shell structure makes the centre stand out in its cardinal role in its context, at the edge of the city, between the sea and the hills.
For the interiors, Active products will be used for the floor and wall coverings. This is very suited to a building of this importance, since they are able to reduce the bacterial charge and improve air quality.
