Requalification of building complex

The project relates to an existing building complex in the very privileged context of the touristic port of Pescara, very close to the sea. The area covers around 2,200 m2 and the complex is composed of a building and a warehouse structure, built in the early post-war period. The area has long been ready for a high quality building development, which would cover the entire city, as envisaged in the Pescara urban zoning plan.
The client intends to recover and requalify the existing building for his own activities; the project, as an urban/construction project, can be considered the recovery of industrial archaeology heritage, located between the land and the sea.
The owner's business operates in the area of computer security for public and private clients: it is precisely due to the importance of this activity that a highly professional, high quality result is required from the project. The material used in the project have been chosen to prioritise quality and aesthetics.
To requalify both the office building and the facade of the warehouses, along with highly prized and innovative finishing materials, Active Clean Air & Antibacterial CeramicTM materials have been chosen for the floors and wall coverings, for their eco-compatibility and sustainability performance: air purification, reduced maintenance over the lifetime of the building, reduced pollution from chemical cleaning agents, as well as reduced associated costs.
Special attention was paid to the sizes of the Calacatta Gold Extreme Active tiles: the 150x75 cm format was used, in collaboration with Fiandre, to obtain the sub-modules 150x37.5/150x22.5/150x15 cm, which are not available in the catalogue, but which have enabled an extraordinary aesthetic result.
