Crema Marfil Select Active 120x60 cm + 60x60 cm : 1000 mq (ca.)
The structure is an old railway station built in the early twentieth century, with a small adjacent apartment, previously used as a restaurant. The aim of the project is to expand the structure to modernise it while employing eco-sustainable technologies including eco-active materials, and implementing energy efficiency measures to reduce as far as possible the running costs borne by the Municipality of Curcuris.
The original structure of the building, on two levels, is to be maintained.
At the ground floor is the waiting room and ticket counter of the station, presently used as a cafeteria, while the upper floor apartment is used as a store. The ground floor houses a roofed veranda with the entrance to the cafeteria, while the pizza oven and preparation area is to the right. A small room is to the left. When we enter the old structure, we encounter the first hall, now the bar, kitchen and washrooms, and a second hall used as the dining room. The first floor apartment is now used as a storeroom, accessed via a stairway from the kitchen. The veranda is to be extended and the cafeteria, kitchen, washrooms and pizza preparation is to be moved.
The cafeteria will move to the entrance, while the pizza preparation area will move inside the old structure. The kitchen and washrooms will be moved outside the old structure and will be built to established hygiene standards for public facilities.
The stairway connecting the two levels will be moved with the kicthen and located in the main hall. All dividing walls will be demolished on the first floor to create a single hall for children's birthday parties and other events. The entire building will be finished with traditional materials and techniques, so as to guarantee a building which is stable, compliant with all safety, construction and hygiene standards and in line with the current zoning plan.
