The NCC Triangeln project, Malmö is located in an area subject to rapid urban development. The Triangeln building, which is at the centre of the city of Malmö in front of the railway station with the largest number of passengers, will become the main gate to the city when it is completed. NCC Triangeln is a unique building of great complexity which unites numerous functions: underground car park, shops and restaurants, offices, a large green elevated courtyard and 190 apartments distributed between several buildings. The total gross built-up area is 63,000 m2, of which around 20,000 are underground. The building is designed to satisfy stringent eco-compatibility requirements.
The shops and offices will satisfy BREEAM certification level Very Good. The apartments will be in line with the Swedish eco-compatible building programme Mijöbyggprogram Syd. The architecture of the complex refers to the centres of European capitals built in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Two large shopping floors compose the base of the building, over which are five floors for apartments. A massive office section is located over the large shopping gallery entrance, and an apartment block dominates the entire complex. The basic materials of the building, stone and brick, express its solidity and establish a strong relationship with its surroundings. The tower rising out of this solid base becomes the distinguishing mark of the design.

The white ceramic covering makes it seem a huge sculpted block with precise, elegant lines.

The residential function is reason for a certain discretion in the formal language, the location of the building as a hinge between two urban contexts which are angled at ten degrees from each other results in the fracturing of the plane and folding of its facades. When the traveller arrives in Sweden, after a long train journey through Europe, he/she disembarks at Triangeln, comes up from the underground station and finds himself/herself confronted by the white tower of NCC Triangeln, which is elegantly clad by Italian craftsmanship
