The Kore University complex is a 17 storey structure. The base is the fulcrum of the entire building, since it connects the access ways at different levels, acting as a reception and shopping area while offering a suggestive spatial opening towards the city. The upper floors are intended for student and teacher housing. Special attention has been paid to the correlation between public and private spaces, so that each level has its shared spaces which can be used by all occupants. In order to achieve high energy standards, the complex has not only a sophisticated heat recovery system and high efficiency transparent vertical closure, but also employs a curtain wall structure using large size Active slabs as an antibacterial and anti-pollution system.
The use of such materials is an integral part of the project. The product employed is used for interior and exterior covering applications, thus providing the continuity due to the use of a single material while, thanks to its photo-catalytic function, contributing to minimising the pollutant levels in the interior, in light of the high user traffic and multiplicity of activities the building will be used for.
The ACTIVE coverings are thus proposed in a variety of forms, as wall and floor coverings, and act as the connecting thread for the entire structure, creating relationships between the various areas regardless of the activities for which they are used.
