"ACTIVE ARCHITECTURE" INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARD

On the occasion of the celebrations organised by "Il Resto del Carlino" (which also publishes La Nazione and Il Giorno newspapers) to mark the newspaper’s 125th anniversary, Fiandre is holding an international architecture award entitled "Active Architecture".

The award is intended to encourage and promote ecologically sustainable design, a new way of conceiving of environmentally friendly design using Fiandre materials, preferably selected from among its environmentally friendly lines such as Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™.

Awards will be presented to professionals who stand out in contemporary architectural design in the broadest sense, for both residential and non-residential use.

The award, which will start on March 1 and end on August 31 2010, is intended for designers (architects, engineers, designers, technical studios, etc.) presenting projects which include in the specifications use of Fiandre Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™ materials for floor and/or wall coverings.

The competition will include a special section for students in faculties of architecture and engineering and schools of design who present projects involving use of Fiandre materials on floors and/or walls.

The specifications requiring use of Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™ materials must be written clearly and precisely, specifying sizes, colours and quantities.

The panel of judges will include 6 members:

Pierluigi Visci - Resto del Carlino editor
Pierluigi Masini - Resto del Carlino assistant editor
Carlo Branzaglia - Head of the Bologna Design Center
Silvio Cassarà – Architect, Instructor in the Department of Engineering of Ravenna University and visiting professor at the N.Y. Institute of Technology.
Luca Molinari – Architect and critic, Professor of the Theory of Architectural Design with the Architecture Faculty of Naples University II
Graziano Verdi - GranitiFiandre CEO and Managing Director

Prizes will be awarded for a trip to the Expo in Shanghai where Fiandre has been chosen by the government commission to provide the flooring in the Italian pavilion.
