During the finissage of the exhibition “Pier Carlo Bontempi: The greatest provocation in the world. The labyrinth of Franco Maria Ricci and other architectures” and concluding the cycle of events dedicated to the poetics of the Parma-based architect, FAB Castellarano, the gallery and showroom of the two companies Fiandre and Porcelaingres, hosts the discussion entitled “How many architectures from tradition?”.
A conversation comparing the architectural and design languages of Pier Carlo Bontempi and Raul Pantaleo of TAMassociati, offering a comparison of the role of contemporary architecture in the construction of urban spaces and symbols that focus on people.
The Floornature portal (Paolo Schianchi and Mara Corradi), organising the programme of events, uses these words to describe the motivations underlying the discussion:
"Pier Carlo Bontempi often reminds us that architecture is an art, yet an applied art. Dealing with people's well-being, it covers a path of abnegation, which prevents it from being devoted exclusively unto itself, with a view to being transformed into an instrument. In this declaration of humility, in which architecture is no longer self-gratifying but becomes the expression of a community, analogies can be found with the militant spirit of TAMassociati, which places its central focus on people's happiness, understood as the harmony between human beings and the landscape, history, culture of a place, refusing all forms of self-celebration.
