MAE PROMOTES PIAM PREMIO INTERNACIONAL DE ARQUITECTURA MATIMEX

PIAM, the Matimex International Prize for Architecture (Premio Internacional de Arquitectura Matimex), is the first event organised by MAE, the Matimex showroom that opened recently in Spain. With PIAM, MAE reveals its identity as a multifunctional space open to inspiration for architects, designers and interior designers.

The prize was organised with the support of the Fiandre Iris Ceramica Group in collaboration with important architecture institutions in Valencia (ASA - Asociación Sostenibilidad y Arquitectura, Universitat Politècnica de València, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, Colegio Territorial del Arquitectura de Castellón), architecture professionals (Bertone design) and companies working in the field (Coarce, Fila, Habitat Futura, Mapei).
The contest is open to professionals and students in the fields of architecture and interior design all over the world who use the Fiandre Iris Ceramica Group’s ceramic materials in a design for a hotel or a part thereof. Special attention will be paid to use of large tiles and Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™ products, anti-bacterial, eco-active and sustainable porcelain tiles which reduce atmospheric pollution through photocatalysis of titanium dioxide.

The contest has two categories, one for professionals (architects, designers, interior designers, engineers) and one for students (of architecture, design and interior design). Entrants may participate alone or in multidisciplinary groups of up to five people, with built projects or plans. The registration deadline is June 30, and entries must be submitted by August 31 2015 directly online through the contest website, https://www.premiosmatimex.es/. The jury that will announce the winners and special mentions in each section includes professionals in architecture and ceramics: Aldo Cingolani (architect and CEO of Bertone Design - Italy), Federica Minozzi (CEO of GranitiFiandre S.p.A), Miguel Angel Díaz Camacho (MADC Arquitectos director and president of ASA), Juan-Luis Grafulla (Matimex general manager), Pau Batalla Soriano (Colegio Territorial del Arquitectura de Castellón), Ignacio Fernández Sorolla (associate director of Arup Spain), Florentino González Madrid (head of the Chapman Taylor department of interior architecture).
Two cash prizes will be award in the professionals' category (first and second place) as well as two honourable mentions.
The winner in the students’ category will be awarded a trip for two (flight+hotel)to Milan (Italy) with admission to the Salone del Mobile in April 2016.
